Drival – Behind The Scenes Of ‘Full Moon’ Interview

With a busy few months behind him, Drival is looking forward to an even more hectic summer festival season coming up. His previous release ‘Ready When You Are’ had all the elements you’d expect from the Spanish producer’s back catalogue of hits, and ‘Full Moon’ is arguably even stronger. With beautiful Trance melodies and incredible percussion and bass, Drival delivers yet another diamond. We caught up with him to get some behind the scenes knowledge on how the track was made – enjoy!

So – how did ‘Full Moon’ come about?

From the beginning, ‘Full Moon’ was intended to be as a follow up of ‘Forever Is Gone’ in terms of spirit and overall vibrations. In fact, that’s the reason why I offered it directly to Phoenix Recordings, with whom I released the previous track, and we both were really happy with its performance and feedback.

Do you think this is the Drival sound, or is it something new?

It is definitely the Drival sound. As I’ve said in the past, I like to experiment with many different sounds and Trance subgenres, but this one has the same imprint for sure.

Can you hear any influences in the track, or was it a wholly original composition?

Though the structure was intended to be similar to not only my previous release but to most any uplifting Trance tracks, it was an original production. In the breakdown I especially wanted to give room to the piano.

How long did it take to complete the track, from start to finish?

It took about two weeks from scratch until the final mastered version.

What can we look forward to from you next?

In the short term, there is an EP coming out this week, June 13, on Sueno Digital recordings, and my collaboration with Jennifer Rene is coming out on AVA Recordings on July 16!

How do you pack so much emotion in to your track, without it ever sounding too busy or hectic?

Finding the right balance when mixing and mastering. If you just add one track on top of the rest and keep doing so, your mix will sound hectic for sure. Sometimes you have to take a bit of intensity out of some parts in order to give room to others that join the party.

Finally, how can we download ‘Full Moon’?

You can grab your copy on Beatport (https://www.beatport.com/release/full-moon/2285640) and also in all other digital stores from this week on.
