Quickfire Interview: Drival

Drival is quickly advancing from an up and coming Trance artist in an established one. After a positive 2017, he has started this year with the release of his new single ‘Forever is Gone’. Alongside this, he is continuing his online mix series and looking forward to many shows over the coming summer months. We caught up with him to get a bit more information about him, and why you should check him out!

DJing since 1999 and producing since 2015.

You got involved in Dance music because…

I consider it to be all about emotions. I love many genres of music, but dance music grew on me since my adolescence and somehow it manages to make me smile and feel alive.

Drival’s productions are…

I like to think that my productions are a reflection of how I understand electronic music and its diversity. Anyway, what really matters is what you think ☺

Your biggest inspiration is…

When I got into Trance music, I looked up to Armin van Buuren, as many of us did most likely. At this moment, apart from him, I also get inspired by a lot of different artists as I feel I have developed the ability to get the most of everything I listen to.

Fans should listen to your music because…

It has been tailored to lift your spirit. Yay, it sounds big, right? But I mean it!

The best moment of your career so far was…

Seeing my name ranking #2 on Beatport right after Armin’s latest compilation was kind of cool, I must say. It’s one of those things you picture in your mind when you are a kid.

Your ultimate dream is…

To play both my own music and the music I love all around the world. That is going to be amazing.

Your upcoming releases will…

Give you shivers! Both vocal and instrumental trance tracks. At least that is my intention! To make you connect with that one-of-its-kind vibe that only trance can deliver.

Dance music, to you, is…

My way of enjoying life! It’s a carrier to share happiness, to get away from troubles.

Your favourite worldwide venue/club is…

It would be a tie between Ministry Of Sound and Pacha Ibiza. In terms of venue itself, based on design and history. But there are so many cool clubs around the world to be discovered!

If you weren’t a DJ and producer you’d probably be…

I guess that I would be… what I also am, a telecommunications engineer.

You’ll only stop making music if…

Only an act of God would take it away from me. I don’t have the slightest intention of stopping to do what I do. I just love it too much.

In the next few years you aim to be…

Renowned. And sharing the dream with a lot of other artists and public from all around the world.

Drival is…

Someone who had a dream and stepped up to make a go of it. There are few better things than being happy with what you do and making other people have fun and smile with you at the same time.
