Interview: Introducing Jaksan

Jaksan is an artist who is steadily making his way up the ranks with his storming Tech House productions and high-energy DJ sets. He has had releases with Claude VonStroke’s DirtyBird label with ‘LaLaLa’ and has just released a huge track titled ‘Make Me Dance’. The Vegas-based producer is on to great things so we took some time to chat with Jaksan to find out more about him.

Tell us a little bit about you?

My name is Robert Jackson, I’m 29 and from Las Vegas. I produce and DJ Tech House music.

How did you first get into music?

I tried various instruments growing up but wasn’t very good at any of them. Once I learned I could make Music in the box it was a done deal from there.

What made you fall in love with dance music?

It was really the mystery of the sounds. You never know what you’re going to hear in a dance track or how it is going to play & be received.

What’s your favourite part of the industry?

I love how quick everyone in the industry is to give back and to help foster growth from other artists. It’s less competitive and more collaborative.

Biggest achievement so far?

I’ve been doing a large number of shows and everyone is a great time and achievement but the support I received from Claude VonStroke and Fallout after is definitely my biggest highlight thus far.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

Chris Lake, Born Dirty, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano

Best DJ set you have ever seen?

So many to choose from but a set that showed me something different was when Tiesto did some extra time at Hakkasan in Las Vegas and he took the crowd on a journey through some Deep house, Tech House, Big Room & more but none of it sounded out of a place.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before?

Very fun, Bubbly, & littered with wild sound FX.

Tell us an interesting fact about you.

I’m a complete nerd about sustainable energy!

If you could have one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Tacos Al Pastor without a doubt!

What is your all-time favourite song?

In high school, I was obsessed with Ian Van Dahl – Castles in the Sky

Who would be your dream collaboration?

Me, Chris Lake, & Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano

Preferred BPM?

126

If you won a million dollars, what would you with the money?

Throw a sick party with free entry, food and, drinks for those that can’t afford it and never get to experience dance music

Tell us one of your tracks we should listen to?

‘LaLaLa’ is my most popular thanks to Claude but ‘Raunchy’ is a crowd favourite on the dancefloor!
