Tony Sixx has starred with his new remix of Dua Lipa’s ‘IDGAF’. He has added further depth and emotion to the already powerful track, keeping the beautiful vocal line involved in his remix. Well-received and gaining traction, he has taken a further step in his growing career, and we caught up with Tony to explore how he made the track and learn more about its creation.
So Tony, what made you decide to remix this track?
Well, I’ve always been a fan of Dua Lipa and I had the idea from the moment I heard the track for the first time. I listened to it once and got straight to working on the remix.
The style of the track is very unique, do you think it’s a sign of things to come for you?
I think the track really shows the style I’m trying to create as an artist. I love making things interesting and some what different.
Do you have any particular influences you think are noticeable in this release?
I have been really influenced by other artists such as Justin Mylo, Brooks, and Mesto. I’ve always loved progressive house and bounce. I have been trying to add my own different touches to it.
How long did it take to complete the track from start to finish?
The track took me about a week to fully complete.
Are you working on new music for us now?
Yes I am! I have a couple of originals as well as remixes that I am very excited to release within the following months.
Was there a specific moment you knew the track was finished, or did it take a long time to complete?
I am a firm believer in the saying “Less is more”. I tend not to overthink, once I have the main idea down I start to polish the track but not really add more to it.
Do you have a method to starting tracks and was this unique or similar to usual?
When it comes to remixes, I usually try to find an acapella and then put down some chords and try to come up with a unique melody that can still relate to the original. This remix was similar to my usual process.
